The Ultra IT Function manages IT operations across the global locations, providing the technology, vision, and leadership in the development and implementation of IT strategies and priorities that support business growth. 

The IT Function manages all aspects of IT Security in safeguarding all the information assets for which Group businesses are responsible. 

Overview:

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an IT Azure Cloud Support Specialist Level 3 Apprenticeship. 

You will be office based in Cheltenham, with some UK travel. This will enhance your career, so you can benefit from the culture of Ultra, build relationships and maintain a healthy work-life balance. 

The Ultra IT Apprentice will develop knowledge of the required skills and experience throughout the apprenticeship to successfully contribute to Ultra and complete relevant training. 

You will provide support to internal customers, use tools to problem solve and troubleshoot non-routine problems, set people up on systems, and fix issues to contribute to Ultra’s productivity. 

You will be trained in all aspects of 1st line support with the intent to progress to the next level. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support colleagues as required and learn fundamentals of IT and product knowledge to successfully complete apprenticeship.
  • Take calls via the helpdesk system and phone whilst providing remote support to our internal customers at the other sites.
  • There may be additional IT activities to perform from time to time such as network fault finding, system building, and liaising with printer hardware suppliers in order to maximise the contribution to Ultra’s goals and objectives.
  • Attend learning modules included in apprenticeship as required.
  • Complete all relevant self-development activities as part of apprenticeship as required.
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual.
  • Provide support on standard devices such as standard desktops, tablets, phones, and devices.
  • Provide technical and functional support on standard applications and software and support for all products/ equipment on the current approved list.
  • Install authorised software to laptops and desktops.
  • Support devices and users on a Windows network comprising of Windows Desktops and laptops, Active Directory, and M365.
  • Assist with IT infrastructure and IT support tasks as directed by task manager. 

What we are looking for:

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • ICT skills learned at school/college 
  • Interest in general computing/gaming and computer hardware
  • Keen / enthusiastic and a team player
  • Effective communication skills 

Also, to successfully apply, you will need to obtain and maintain SC/DV level security clearance.

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this Azure Cloud Support Specialist programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above) 
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:

37 per week. 

Salary:

£17,000 per annum.

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
