Summary

This opportunity will develop your skills as a Teaching Assistant whilst working with individual children, having special or particular needs & with groups of children as directed by the teacher. You will also provide support to the Inclusion Team & Class Teachers across a range of child-centred activities to promote child development & learning.

Wage

£11,778 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key duties include: 

  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and resources. 
  • Support pupils with learning activities, both individually and in groups. 
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment. 
  • Provide extra support for pupils with special educational needs (SEND). 
  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and outings. 
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as marking, record-keeping, and organising supplies. 
  • Encourage and support pupil engagement, confidence, and progress. 
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet pupils’ needs. 
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils. 
  • Observe and report pupil progress to teachers and senior staff. 
  • To adhere to Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To keep confidential any issues related to Sir Francis Hill Primary School which are deemed confidential.

  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

The training will be in partnership with Priory Apprenticeships, which offer a strong foundation for a career in education, in a supportive environment. 

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or C and above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or C and above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
