Summary

This is a one-year apprenticeship programme where you will begin your career in Mortgages and Financial Planning. Working alongside our experienced administrators, you will gain insight into how the mortgage life cycle works and how we deliver excellent support to our clients.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Take part in a year long structured development programme designed to help you build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in your role. All of our apprentices take part in this programme, so you’ll have a group of peers to learn alongside.
  • Learn the foundations of mortgage broking through hands-on learning and structured apprenticeship training
  • Learn how to support the Mortgage Administration team with case overflow
    Support with administrative tasks such as data entry, chasing and processing invoices and completion checks.
  • Build your confidence with handling incoming enquiry phone calls and emails
  • Play an active role in chasing solicitors via telephone calls and emails
  • Use your collaboration skills to work closely with our brokers and support them with preparing mortgage documents
    Get involved with data projects to help improve the daily operations within the team

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • The ability to elicit customer's needs through effective fact finding and questioning techniques and provides solutions thorough research and analysis. Can plan and prioritise workloads and deliver all required outputs to customers and colleagues; achieving all internal standards (e.g. service standards, accuracy, attention to detail, meeting required risk, regulatory and governance requirements).
  • Has high quality written and verbal communication skills and is able to handle a range of situations and issues that arise. Has the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, professional contacts and third party product providers.
  • An understanding of regulatory requirements by working compliantly, including data protection and treating customers fairly. Identify specific threats to the business and act appropriately in line with regulation and governance. E.g. ensuring that confidential information is only shared with the relevant people.
  • The ability to identify, generate and develop relationships that support the role. E.g. professional contacts, new business opportunities through internal/external networking and customer referrals.
  • Adheres to all relevant processes and procedures using technical ability and proficient IT skills to deliver positive outcomes for customers and the business, within the risk, regulatory and governance requirements.

Training schedule

Mortgage Adviser Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • You will gain a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification for your relevant programme
  • As part of this, you’ll spend one day a week studying with your dedicated trainer, who will support you every step of the way to ensure you're set up for success

  • Following your 12 month apprenticeship, you will move into a Mortgage Advisor permanent role
