Summary

The role of data technician would be ideal for anyone starting their career in data analytics. Strong numeracy skills are essential. The skills, knowledge and behaviours (KSBs) learnt will allow you to work in all sectors where data is found: finance, retail, education, health, media, manufacturing and hospitality.

3Vision is a leading specialist TV content consultancy based in Bath. We have helped our clients build successful TV and streaming businesses in over 30 countries worldwide. We provide several online databases monitoring the growth of the TV sector and where and TV shows, Movies and FAST Channels are sold around the world.

We also offer a range of services including Strategy Development, Rights Negotiation, Research and Business Development.

Our clients include all types of TV service operators as well as content owners, TV channels and TV technology providers such as Sony, BBC Studios, Amazon MGM, Paramount, ITV, Vodafone and TiVo.

We are planning to significantly grow the business, and we are looking for a Data Support Analyst to join the team work on data gathering for our online databases.

People we’re looking for will

  • Be self-starters able to work under pressure
  • Have an active interest in the TV industry
  • Be numerate and have very good attention to detail
  • Have good computer skills (ideally Apple), including a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Your role will focus on gathering data for our tracker services

  • Gathering data for monthly updates of our trackers
  • Understanding and extracting data from the trackers
  • Collecting data from international TV services– guided by our team
  • Our trackers cover TV Series, Movies, FAST Channels (these are free advertising supported TV channels)

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Select and migrate data from already identified sources.
  • Format and save datasets.
  • Summarise, analyse and explain gathered data.
  • Combine data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Use tools and/or apply basic statistical methods to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Identify faults and cleanse data to improve data quality, for example identifying gaps, duplicate entries, outliers and unusual variances, including cross-checking across data elements or between data sources.
  • Audit data results for maintenance of data quality, reviewing a data set once all sources are combined, to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and traceability from original data.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent documentation of the data provided to others and of actions completed. Where appropriate or mandated by the working context, this documentation should use standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute data in compliance with organisational, national, sector specific standards and or legislation.
  • Considers sustainability and ways to reduce impact. For example, using cloud storage, sharing links to files, avoid storing multiple versions of files, and reducing the use of physical handouts of documentation.
  • Parse data against standard formats, and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate collaboratively in a working context that accounts for, and takes advantage of, the roles, skills and activities of others, especially those interacting with the same data sets or working towards a common goal.
  • Prioritise own activities within the context of the duties to be performed, taking account of any known or expected impact on others.
  • Follows equity, diversity and inclusion policies in the organisation for a common goal.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use different tools and methods to formulate and utilise effective prompts to research, apply, and evaluate data transformation techniques.

Training schedule

You will undertake the ground-breaking Professional Apprenticeships Data Technician Level 3 qualification. Professional Apprenticeships are an Ofsted Outstanding rated provider and also hold the title of Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Training Provider of the Year for 2021.

The training is delivered using a hybrid model and can be delivered fully remotely if needed. You will have monthly 1-2-1s with your assigned tutor, along with monthly group sessions, where one topic will be covered in detail, and you will have the opportunity to meet and work with all the other apprentices on the course.

These modules are designed to jump-start your career and make you stand out in an increasingly competitive field, boosting your future earning potential.
