Summary
The Governance Apprentice role is to provide governance support to the governance team responsible for ensuring compliance in a range of areas relating to governance of the college and its regulatory and statutory duties including but not limited to statutory corporate governance, safeguarding, prevent, contracting, and procurement.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Work with the Governance team to understand key areas of compliance
- Handle confidential information with complete discretion
- Liaise with internal and external contacts responsible for providing data and information required to ensure regulatory compliance
- Produce and support the production of documents and reports on an as needs basis to ensure compliance and meet audit and regulatory requirements
- Support ensuring compliance with the Association of College’s Code of Good Governance and meeting regulatory requirements
- Support compliance requirements in relation to the procurement, award, and management of subcontractors

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Interpret regulation, legislation and governance practices and advise and train stakeholders on its practical application.
- Establish, maintain, and influence relationships with key stakeholders and team members.
- Use IT systems to manage, share and store information in accordance with regulatory requirements and organisational policies and procedures.
- Communicate complex information through a variety of media to enable key stakeholders to understand what is required.
- Review instructions, following them to a conclusion through the execution of tasks.
- Identify and use precedents adapted for specific circumstances such as resolutions, announcements, reports.
- Produce work which is factually accurate and well presented for submission to the members of a decision-making governing body and for publication by the organisation.
- Develop and maintain structure charts for the organisation.
- Plan and prioritise their workload to meet deadlines.
- Maintain and organise forward looking plans and calendars, keeping relevant stakeholders informed of upcoming events such as meetings, reporting timetables, compliance deadlines.
- Gather, analyse, use, and share data to inform the decision-making process and make judgements on actions to take.
- Identify problems and present potential solutions to stakeholders.
- Respond to stakeholder questions and requests, knowing when to consult with others or escalate on matters of a more complex or sensitive nature.
- Identify and implement improvements to support the governance of the organisation.

More training information
Training will be provided by Ginger Nut Training. Ginger Nut’s delivery is based on a remote, blended model of one-to-one tutor sessions every 4 weeks, group sessions, webinars, online courses, video, and additional support where required. Apprentices are allocated a tutor to guide them through the training, conduct regular meetings and prepare for End Point Assessment. Our tutors are industry experts with relevant industry experience in addition to teaching and coaching expertise.
To support learning, we utilise online resources mapped to the apprenticeship and all learners are given access to LinkedIn Learning, and other bespoke channels designed to support their apprenticeship.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

They may also be able to move their career into an information governance and data protection role, regulatory compliance role and business administration role.
