Summary

The Data Analyst will receive exposure to all aspects of educational data and will be expected to support on key aspects of collecting, quality assuring, analysing and interpreting educational data. This will in turn result in the Data Analyst and Head of Data working collaboratively to support and advise on key strategic decisions.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Creating data analysis and discuss any relevant updates from the Department for Education.
  • Auditing, designing and implementing efficient systems for collecting and analysing data to support school improvement.
  • Analysis of attendance data and identify trends and work hard to find alternative formats to present data in formats that are suitable for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Produce accurate and insightful reports for the Trust board, SLT, and school leaders using data dashboards
  • The data analyst will ensure they support Academy Data teams and the Head of Data during results week by publishing examination data for students and the trust.
  • Support academies with Arbor MIS functionality with the recent change of MIS.
  • Support academies with using Arbor MIS and associated systems is optimised ensuring seamless transfer of data between MIS modules.
  • Support academies with the maintenance of the Arbor MIS, including student, attendance, behaviour, assessment, staff, hr & absence data.
  • Support academies with preparation and maintenance of assessment marksheets for data entry.

  • implement the stages of the data analysis lifecycle
  • apply principles of data classification within data analysis activity
  • analyse data sets taking account of different data structures and database designs
  • assess the impact on user experience and domain context on data analysis activity
  • identify and escalate quality risks in data analysis with suggested mitigation or resolutions as appropriate
  • undertake customer requirements analysis and implement findings in data analytics planning and outputs
  • identify data sources and the risks and challenges to combination within data analysis activity
  • apply organizational architecture requirements to data analysis activities
  • apply statistical methodologies to data analysis tasks
  • apply predictive analytics in the collation and use of data
  • collaborate and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders using appropriate styles and behaviours to suit the audience
  • use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data
  • collate and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and convert into infographics, reports, tables, dashboards and graphs
  • select and apply the most appropriate data tools to achieve the optimum outcome

Other requirements

• Experience of diagnosing and problem solving • Experience of analysing data to identify trends • Able to use judgement to solve straightforward problems to support the operation of computers and networks • Basic knowledge of Power BI and/or Looker Data Studio • Able to produce reports and charts communicating trends within data to non-specialists • An innovative approach, enthusiastic and action orientated. • Desire to continually improve. Constantly raising the bar • Able to work flexibly according to the needs of the Team • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc) OR equivalent work experience (typically two years in a relevant role) • 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above • Experience with using Excel and Microsoft products (or similar)
