An exciting opportunity to start a career with an established and pioneering company. Whilst working towards your apprenticeship, you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth warehouse operations and excellent service to our customers, this ranges from warehouse work to being trained up on the logistics and order entry side of the business.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Whilst working towards your apprenticeship, you will work as part of a lean team to contribute to the ongoing success of the business. Your initial duties to assist in developing your knowledge, skills and behaviour will include:

  • Pick and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring items are prepared for dispatch in good condition.
  • Receive and unload deliveries, checking goods against delivery notes.
  • Put away stock into the correct locations, maintaining the accuracy of inventory records.
  • Re-pack stock and assortments as/when needed (audit returns, stock cleanse etc.)
  • Operate a forklift truck to move, load, and unload stock in a safe and compliant manner (training provided)
  • Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and free of hazards, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Work as part of a team to meet daily and weekly operational targets.
  • Follow company processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
  • Suggest and find improvement opportunities.

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Training schedule

Training will take place in the workplace, supported by scheduled visits with a subject specialist Skills Coach

Apprentices will be able to utilise facilities at both of Stoke-on-Trent College's excellent campuses in Shelton and Burlsem should they require

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade Grade C/4 or above)
  • Maths (grade Grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

The role will require some heavy lifting and training will be provided for Forklift use.
