Wage

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Panel build (fitting electrical components to a back plate)
  • Reading wiring schematics and interpret cable sizes, ferrule type
  • Wiring of Mounting plate to an approved circuit diagram
  • Occasional mechanical work, building and testing of Ex enclosures
  • Electrical fault finding & rework
  • Opportunity for off site electrical work (after induction training)

Training schedule

  • Apprenticeship Standard is Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative
  • You will be required to attend Plymouth Engineering Skills Centre a day a week as part of your apprenticeship training

Additional units include:

  • AUEC2-039 Assembling, wiring and testing electrical panels/components mounted in enclosures
  • AUEC2-010 Wiring and testing electrical equipment & circuits
  • AUEC2-00 Maintaining electrical units/ systems

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
