Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The role:
Sourcing and attracting candidates through various mediums including social media and referrals
Interviewing candidates, assessing their suitability and skills and checking all right to work documentation
Meeting with clients to discuss vacancy briefs and candidate specifications
Delivering exceptional service to all candidates by keeping them regularly updated
The ideal candidate:
You will be highly self-motivated and will want to work in a role that offers a challenge and diversity each day. You will be resilient and be happy to meet clients to negotiate pricing and terms of business. No experience is needed, however, candidates that have a background in Telesales or Sales are encouraged to apply. Full training will be provided; this will be hands on and practical rather than theoretical. You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be professional.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
- Maintain informative communication during service recovery.
Training schedule
Monthly online training sessions with the tutor. The apprentice will be expected to commit to at least 6 hrs per week training time in the workplace.
Working towards a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- Maths (grade 4)
- English (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
Please ensure you have: Researched the role, the location of the employer, Shipley College and are able to travel to both. Have the desire and confidence to work with people of all walks of life. Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required. All applicants will be asked to submit a current CV and will be asked to attend an Information and guidance session including an assessment for Maths and English to support their application.
