Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Front of House Team Member at Butcombe, you’ll be the face of our pubs, greeting guests with warmth, serving with confidence, and creating moments that raise spirits. You’ll learn how to deliver exceptional service from the heart, whether behind the bar or on the floor. Working in a fast-paced, supportive team, you’ll set the bar high with every guest and help make our venues the talk of the town. You’ll gain real hospitality skills, from pouring the perfect pint to handling bookings and feedback, all while working towards a recognised qualification and a rewarding career.
As part of this apprenticeship, you’ll work towards a Level 2 Food & Beverage Team Member qualification through hands-on, work-based learning, including functional skills if needed. You’ll be welcoming guests, serving food and drinks, and creating brilliant experiences with the support of your manager and team. It’s all about learning on the job, growing your confidence, and delivering hospitality from the heart.
- Welcoming guests with a smile and making sure they feel right at home from the moment they walk in.
- Taking food and drink orders confidently, helping guests choose and making sure everything’s spot on.
- Serving up great experiences, whether it’s a perfectly poured pint or a quick chat that brightens someone’s day.
- Keeping things clean and tidy, from tables to tills, because a great atmosphere starts with a well-kept space.
- Handling payments and feedback with care, making sure every guest leaves happy and wanting to come back.
You’ll bring a positive attitude, a friendly smile, and a willingness to learn. If you enjoy being around people, thrive in a busy pub environment, and can work at least 30 hours a week, we’ll give you the skills to shine front of house.
Where you'll work
Work in stunning pubs and inns across the South of England—from the Cotswolds to the New Forest, Bath to Berkshire. Butcombe venues include city hotspots, countryside escapes, and coastal gems, each with its own character. Whether it’s a buzzing Bristol pub or a boutique inn in Somerset, you’ll be part of a team serving fresh food and proper pints in some of the UK’s most beautiful and welcoming locations.
Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
