Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

An average day may include a safety briefing in the workshop, making sure everyone is aware of the day’s tasks and any potential hazards. You will be wearing full PPE supplied by the Company and you will join a Bay Leader or experienced fabricator for hands-on training — this could mean learning new welding techniques, operating machinery, or fabricating components for live projects.

You will need to keep your training log updated and attend college once a week to successfully complete your apprenticeship. This is a hands on role working with steel beams, heavy lifting machinery grinders and welding. Much activity has to be undertaken wearing air fed masks. In this fast-paced, high-risk workshop, safety comes first — you’ll learn to work with precision, discipline, and full awareness to keep yourself and others safe.
