Summary

Jenks & Cattell Engineering’s apprenticeship programme is being expanded this year because here, we recognise the importance of developing young adult’s skills and providing a training platform to upskill the next generation of engineers and technicians.

Wage

£14,526.20 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Monday - Thursday, 7.30am - 4.00pm and 7.30am to 12.00PM midday on Friday.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assist in service & repair of press tools and robot welding fixtures
  • Work under the supervision of highly skilled toolmakers to learn to safely operate lathes, milling machines, radial drillers & surface grinders
  • Use precision measuring instruments like micrometre’s gauges and CMM machines
  • Implement tooling improvements
  • Complete tool reports and ordering of spare parts
  • Interface with new production tooling manager on new tooling projects
  • Comply with the quality and environment standards procedures and instructions

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A*-C (4-9))
  • Maths (grade B/5)
