Summary

This apprenticeship is the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician standard programme with AGS Automania Garage Services - Heathrow. The right candidate will work alongside Daimler's qualified Technicians to receive extensive training in maintaining HGVs.

Start your HGV Technician career with AGS Automania Garage Services and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of transport!

Join our apprenticeship programme delivered in partnership with Remit Training, and work in one of our IRTE-accredited Daimler Trucks workshops. Gain hands-on experience with advanced vehicles, including electric and hydrogen models, while earning your Level 3 qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service, maintain, and repair HGVs to industry standards
• Diagnose and fix faults in Telematics, Comfort, Driveline, and Chassis systems
• Use specialist tools and equipment
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure safety standards
• Work in a busy workshop environment and meet customer expectations

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV
  • The ability to keep updated with emerging new technologies within the HV industry.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes.
  • Access specific and related HV technical information appropriately.
  • The ability to service, inspect and maintain HVs and trailers to meet company, Driver and vehicle standards agency (DVSA) and manufacturers’ standards.
  • Use a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HV’s.
  • Successfully inspect and prepare vehicles and trailers to meet DVSA standards prescribed in the tester’s manual.
  • Carry out final quality checks before handover to the customer without supervision.
  • Apply advanced diagnostic principles and logical/problem solving techniques and regimes.
  • Maintain records to company and operators’ licence obligations and regulation.
  • To be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written mediums both internally and with customers on a range of topics that will support, HV inspection and diagnosing techniques.

Training schedule

Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. There are a total of 16 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.

You will also receive 1-2-1 support from your Development Coach to help you achieve:
• IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

English/ Maths (grade 4 or C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
