Summary

This Drain Camera Technician role involves learning to operate specialised cameras to inspect and assess the condition of a variety of drain camera systems. Once inspected any faults are identified and repaired as required. The post offers on-the-job training to develop the necessary skills.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Equipment Handling: Learning to operate, maintain and repair drain camera equipment, including push-rod and crawler-type cameras
  • Fault Finding: Assisting experienced technicians in conducting CCTV repairs of drain camera systems to identify issues and repair as necessary
  • Reporting: Helping to document fault findings, including creating quotations for customers
  • Maintenance: Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of the camera equipment
  • Safety: Following health and safety procedures related to working with drainage camera systems and equipment

Training schedule

  • You will be pursuing a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard as Engineering Operative, through Weston College
  • As part of this program, you will attend Weston College as instructed, for workshops
  • An assessor will conduct on-site observations to evaluate your progress, as well as supporting you in college throughout your apprenticeship
  • At the conclusion of your programme, your qualification will be assessed through an Apprenticeship Assessment

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C+)
  • Maths (grade 4/C+)
