Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Thursday (including a 45-minute lunch break), and from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM on Friday. This role will be office-based initially, with a view to becoming hybrid following completion of training.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Process sales invoicing for Pasta Foods and Snack Creations Ltd on a rota basis, including raising commercial invoices for export customers
  • Post incoming cash and issue the daily cash summary to Directors, shared on a rota with the Finance team
  • Manage the proof of delivery process, ensuring signed delivery notes are obtained for all orders
  • Oversee the Pasta Foods online webstore account, including daily invoicing, cash posting and reconciliation
  • Monitor and manage shared accounts email inboxes with the Finance team
  • Issue customer statements on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Support credit control activities and prepare debt reports for Pasta Foods and Snack Creations as required
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support timely payments and maximise cash inflow
  • Provide support for Marshalls Foods Ltd, including invoicing, debit note processing and credit control

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

More training information

Training will be with Swarm Training, a national apprenticeship provider in the UK. The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Accounts qualification, which takes 15-18 months to complete. The apprentice must complete a minimum of 6 hours per week during working hours, with monthly training sessions conducted by a tutor, with tasks assigned to be completed during those hours.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English and Maths (grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
