Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Reporting to the Finance Manager, day-to-day duties will include:
- 1. Posting supplier invoices to Actionstep with the correct purchase nominal code and VAT code.
- 2. Reconciling Dye and Durham and Land Registry transactions on Actionstep.
- 3. Helping create the data for the management accounts and cash flow functions for the business.
- 4. Processing client entries, closures of accounts and other requests as required.
- 5. General office support, including post distribution and dealing with enquiries.
- 6. Assisting in the general day-to-day accounting function.
- 7. Filing (electronic and paper).
Training and support will be provided on our systems and processes, with the opportunity to progress and learn new skills.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN).
You will receive training one day per week, which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.
Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set your work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your AAT2 qualification.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
- Maths (grade A*-C/ 4-9)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
