Summary
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Corporate Social Responsibility Apprentice to join our team in Harwell, Oxfordshire, to focus on social value, sustainability, and environmental, governance initiatives. Reporting to the ADD Director, you will play a key role in supporting the monitoring, reporting, and delivery of our social value strategy including carbon reduction commitments.

A range between £18-£22,000 reflecting a competitive mid-range salary for Level 4 apprentices in social value and sustainability roles. Pension: 5% employee, 3% Employer contribution

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The successful applicant will undertake a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. This is a mandatory requirement for the role.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyse, and report on social value performance across business activities, supporting company targets, stakeholder expectations and relevant standards.
- Produce the company’s annual Social Value and Sustainability Report for publication to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting outcomes.
- Deputise for the ADD Director at key external committees and boards, including the Oxfordshire Inclusive Employment Board.
- Support the development and submission of social value content within bids and proposals, embedding clear, measurable commitments.
- Deliver presentations on social value initiatives to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to support the production, implementation, and monitoring of the Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Advise Directors on emerging trends, best practice, and regulatory changes in social value, sustainability, and carbon management.
- Maintain detailed records of social value data, KPIs, and progress against targets.
- Support embedding social value principles into business processes and projects.
- Support all public sector contracts in preparing for and attending contracting authorities contract meetings.

- Balance own CR&S workload to prioritise competing demands and achieve key performance indicators.
- Utilise strengths of internal organisational structures to help build self-sustaining CR&S populations.
- Tailor approach to maintaining new/existing external stakeholder relationships to achieve progress on plans (e.g objectives, key initiatives and shared interests).
- Contribute to the negotiation of external CR&S projects of mutual benefit.
- Adopt a communication method that takes account of the audience and is suitable for the circumstances.
- Recommend opportunities for external engagement, articulating the mutual benefits and risks.
- Contribute to written reports on CR&S performance in line with organisational requirements.
- Contribute to the drafting of the CR&S strategy.
- Adjust leadership style to achieve results, having regard to the needs of the individual/teams involved.
- Select data that is relevant to the CR&S issue being considered.
- Analyse data to form evidence-based conclusions on CR&S performance.
- Deliver CR&S events in accordance with contractual arrangements.
- Quality assure own and others work in accordance with organisational requirements
- Contribute to reporting externally on CR&S Strategy and delivery in line with industry and legislative requirements.
- Identify own organisations CR&S opportunities and threats. Escalate risks within own organisation when needed.
- Research the CR&S landscape, escalating best practice opportunities within own organisation.
- Apply management techniques needed to deliver CR&S projects within budget.
- Train colleagues in CR&S techniques, tailoring the learning style to the circumstances.
- Identify and deliver initiatives that may raise funds for CR&S projects.
- Identify and apply relevant IT solutions to CR&S issues.

Training schedule
During your apprenticeship, you will undergo remote learning through live webinars, forums, and one-to-one with a dedicated learning coach. You will receive constant feedback and coaching through RHG’s team of experienced learning coaches.
You will gain the Level 4 Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard qualification.

• Strong interest in social value, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. • Good communication and presentation skills, with confidence to represent the company externally. • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce clear reports. • Well organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities effectively. • A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving. • Familiar with the learning and development sector. • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, carbon management, or social value legislation is desirable but not essential.
