Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 6:00pm (for apprentices aged 18+). Hours will be adjusted for those under 18 in accordance with working time regulations. One-hour lunch break between 12:00 noon and 2:00pm.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Understanding and fully supporting the company's business needs and objectives, and the customer focus principle of operation.
  • Ensuring safe handling, storage, despatch, and picking of goods in accordance with company procedures and processes.
  • Accepting goods into stock, despatch of goods, handling and packing, all in accordance with company procedures and processes.
  • Picking of goods for orders, keeping racks tidy and safe, boxing, filling of racks, and housekeeping functions.
  • Loading or unloading of goods or assisting therewith (N.B. only approved staff may use forklifts).
  • Contributing actively to meeting quality objectives.
  • Complying with and assisting in the implementation of Health and Safety working practices, as set out in the staff handbook and other staff notices.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Assisting in basic maintenance and care of buildings/grounds and other housekeeping, including helping maintain a neat and tidy environment.

Training schedule

As an apprentice, you’ll be working towards your Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification. Total Training Provision will be your training provider. This is a work-based apprenticeship, so you’ll earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in Apex Stainless Fasteners Ltd’s Leeds warehouse.

More training information

You will support the smooth day-to-day operation of the warehouse, applying your learning directly to practical tasks. This hands-on role will help you develop key skills in stock control, goods handling, logistics, health & safety, and teamwork.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll receive support from a dedicated Skills Coach from Total Training Provision. They will provide:

Regular one-to-one sessions – Helping you stay on track and develop confidence in your role
Tailored advice – Supporting your growth in areas such as stock rotation, order fulfilment, goods-in/goods-out processes, and safe working practices
Blended Learning Approach

Your apprenticeship will combine on-the-job experience with structured learning, including:

Online modules to build your understanding of supply chain and warehouse operations
Interactive training sessions on topics like manual handling, inventory systems, and customer service
Assignments and tasks linked directly to your daily responsibilities
Off-the-Job Training

You’ll spend 20% of your working hours on off-the-job learning. This may include:

Shadowing experienced team members
Attending virtual workshops or completing online training
Completing written work, projects, or practical tasks related to warehouse procedures
End-Point Assessment (EPA)

At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you’ve gained. Upon successful completion, you’ll achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification—an excellent starting point for a long-term career in warehousing and logistics.
