Summary
The Kings Centre, based in Eastbourne are recruiting for a Bookings Assistant Apprentice. The purpose of the role is to provide both administrative and practical support to the King’s Centre team, ensure that centre lettings, church events and bookings are delivered in a timely and professional manner.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Respond to initial letting enquiries via phone and email
- Follow up on enquiries promptly and professionally
- Ensure that church group bookings and church events are added to the planner
- Input and retrieve information using the booking database
- Assist in setting up for bookings, conferences, and church events
- Order and manage stock rotation as required
- Provide practical support for church and conferencing events
- Produce documentation for church life events, such as Orders of Service, Weddings etc.
- Cover reception as needed, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment for clients and visitors
- Manage a simple switchboard efficiently
- Perform general administrative tasks as required

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
- Maintain informative communication during service recovery.
Training schedule
- You will complete the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship. After completing your final assessment, you will be graded a grade Pass or Distinction
- If you don’t have a Level 2 maths and English qualification you will complete Functional Skills in maths and English, if you are 16-18
- The apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace with assessor visits every 4-6 weeks

About this employer
The Kings Centre primarily serves as the home of Kings Church Eastbourne. In addition to providing various church groups and ministries, the building also operates as a busy conference centre. We let out different spaces to external clients for events such as conferences, workshops, training sessions, music concerts, and award ceremonies. Oversight of both the church and the conference centre—including all staff—is provided by the Frontiers Charitable Trust, which is governed by a board of trustees.
