Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Manage project administration by organising communication, drafting project documents, scheduling meetings and coordinating with teams and external partners to keep everything up to date
  • Support and coordinate all aspects of fieldwork, ensuring protocols are followed and online scripts are accurate
  • Monitor fieldwork progress, quotas and participant communications to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Assist with qualitative research tasks such as testing and checking online scripts, moderating interviews, writing summaries and completing content analysis
  • Support client management by assisting with client requests, attending meetings and understanding client needs
  • Conduct data checks, contribute to analysis plans and help prepare client reports with accurate findings

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Liaise with and manage, clients, stakeholders, internal teams and external suppliers to deliver required outcomes.
  • Undertake data collection, data analysis, data presentation and data storage including analysis and validation of the outputs from primary or secondary research data sources.
  • Interpret, prepare and communicate research findings such as presentations, reports, and workshops.
  • Make evidence-based recommendations from research results.
  • Use communications skills and techniques such as negotiation, collaboration, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Interpret research objectives and translate into research design and implementation.
  • Use digital and IT software packages relevant to the role.
  • Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation such as SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions).
  • Select and use appropriate research design techniques.
  • Evaluate data and research findings to derive insights to support improvements to future research projects.

Training schedule

The successful candidate will work towards a Level 4 Market Research qualification, which takes 15-18 months to complete. The apprentice must complete a minimum of 6 hours per week during working hours, with monthly training sessions conducted by a tutor, with tasks assigned to be completed during those hours.

Training will be with Swarm Training, a national apprenticeship provider in the UK.

Training is usually over video at your workplace, but some face-to-face may be available if required.
