Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Support the supply chain team with day-to-day tasks across procurement, planning, and inventory control.
  • Assist in raising and tracking purchase orders for raw materials and packaging under supervision.
  • Help maintain accurate records of stock levels and monitor deliveries to ensure timely receipt of materials.
  • Learn how to create basic production plans aligned with customer demand and production schedules.
  • Liaise with internal teams (production, warehouse, sales) to understand the flow of materials and finished goods.
  • Input data into appropriate systems and help keep information up to date.
  • Support supplier communications, including chasing delivery updates and confirming order details.
  • Take part in forecasting activities and reporting to develop a solid understanding of supply chain planning.
  • Shadow colleagues to gain insight into sourcing, negotiation, and logistics processes.
  • Follow all site safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Attend relevant training and development sessions as part of the apprenticeship programme.

  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Training schedule

Your designated assessor will regularly visit you on-site to deliver the apprenticeship through various methods alongside on-site training from your work mentor.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)

Successful candidates will be required to attend and achieve the required level in Maths & English assessments prior to enrolment onto the programme.
