Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Assist in the removal and reassembly of damaged and replacement vehicle components under guidance.
- Support the removal and refitting of fixed body panels and trim components.
- Diagnose and rectify basic vehicle electrical faults with mentor support.
- Carry out panel repairs using thermal welding and bonding techniques.
- Refurbish trim components and correct structural misalignments.
- Prepare and refinish metal, plastic, and pre-painted surfaces.
- Apply filler, primer, basecoat, and topcoat materials as part of the refinishing process.
- Identify and correct paint and preparation defects.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols within the accident repair environment.
- Develop strong working relationships with team members and mentors.
- Understand and utilise tools, equipment, and vehicle construction methods used in the workshop.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organised work environment.

- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET):Re-assemble replacement or existing components to a vehicle.
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET): Remove and re-assemble permanent & non-permanent fixed vehicle body panels
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET): Remove and refit all types of vehicle body panels.
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET): Remove and refit trim components.
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET): Identify and describe principle vehicle electrical components and systems.
- Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET): Diagnose and rectify basic vehicle electrical faults.
- Panel Repair & Replacement: Repair all types of vehicle body panels.
- Panel Repair & Replacement: Repair or refurbish Trim components.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
