Summary

GPS has an excellent opportunity for a Wire Person looking to join a successful company who are leaders in their niche field. In this role, you will electrically wire backplates and associated components in accordance with the electrical schematics.

Monday - Thursday, 7.30am - 4.00pm with half an hour lunch. Friday, 7.30am - 3.30pm with half an hour lunch.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The key responsibilities of a Wire Person but are not limited to:

  • Provide hands on mechanical assembly and wiring of control panels
  • Complete wiring and install a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical components from mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Report design or material non-conformances
  • Mark up drawings for design updates to “As Built”
  • Quality check, inspect and record findings of completed wiring before handing over to the next process
  • Comply with company policies and procedures concerning safety, environment and quality, and corresponding ISO record keeping requirements

English & Maths (grade 4/C)
