Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Golden Living Care within the Accounts Department. The role is to work in the busy Finance team and having an integral role in the management of all aspects of accounts payable for the organisation.

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Day to day duties will include:

  • Posting cash and allocation
  • Invoicing
  • Working on the sales ledger
  • Sending letters and statements
  • Assisting with the credit control process
  • Providing general support to the finance team

We will give the apprentice an opportunity to gain skills and experience that are transferable and will set the apprentice on a steadfast career path in whatever they chose to do.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

An apprenticeship includes regular training. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

The successful candidate will complete a full ‘Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard’.  The training will be delivered by Birmingham Metropolitan College from Sutton Coldfield College on a day release basis.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C or above)
  • Maths (grade 4/C Or above)

Desirable qualifications

BTEC in:

Accounting/ Finance/Bookeeping (grade C/4 or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

This opportunity involves extensive computer work, so a good understanding of Excel and computer-based formatting, particularly with numbers and calculations, is required.
