Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Generate clinic and theatre billing invoices/statements
- Prepare monthly invoices for NHS services
- Liaising with other departments and Insurance companies to resolve queries
- Handle invoices via insurers' e-billing platforms
- Input invoices & delivery notes into the purchase ledger
- Preparation of supplier payments
- Undertaking general finance, office and administrative duties as required
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail distribution
- Monitoring financial applications
- Manage petty cash transactions
- Conduct banking activities and reconcile accounts
- Handle various payment methods, including cash, cheques and credit cards
- Field telephone enquiries and provide reception coverage as needed
- Conduct credit control activities, including debt chasing and issuing collection reminders
- Reconcile accounts and liaise with debt collection agencies when necessar
- Assist with ongoing development projects and procedure manual creation
- Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
- Assist with the preparation of reports, including Board Papers, as required
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with patients
- Update computer systems with accurate information
- Stay informed by completing relevant in-house training
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Execute tasks assigned by Management and Directors promptly and accurately
- Offer suggestions for process improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Undertake appropriate learning and CPD

- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan
Training will be provided by Solihull College and an assessor will be allocated to support you. Coaching in the workplace, on teams as well as scheduled sessions at the Solihull campus and time spent training will be part of the agreed working hours. At the end of your training, you will complete AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, a portfolio of evidence and a discussion.
More training information
Apprentices will spend one day a week at Solihull College Blossomfield campus for taught classes towards the AAT level 3 professional qualification term time only. Other off the job learning such as reading, exercises and revision will take place during the apprenticeship as well as building your portfolio of evidence towards the apprenticeship end point assessment.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

- Maths (grade 4 or above)
Other in:
