Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Support with setting out and preparing the construction site
  • Learn and assist with tasks such as bricklaying, groundwork, or basic carpentry
  • Follow health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE
  • Work under the guidance of experienced tradespeople and site managers

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Your training plan

The apprentice will attend block release training at AccXel Construction School in Gloucestershire. Training will take place in scheduled blocks throughout the year, allowing apprentices to concentrate on theory and practical learning away from site, while gaining hands-on experience with Persimmon Homes in between training periods.

After this apprenticeship

After completing this apprenticeship, the apprentice can progress into a full-time role with Persimmon Homes.
