Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Day to day tasks include:
- Program + Operate CNC Milling machines
- Program + Operate CNC Lathe
- Assist with the preparation, setup, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tooling
- Operate manual lathes
- Operate manual pillar drills
- Learn programming languages – G-code & Heidenheim
- 3D CAD + CAM using Solidworks
- Opportunity to learn how to program + operate lasers
- Maintain + Repair CNC machines
- Maintain Tools
- Assist with the preparation, setup, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tooling
- Support process improvement projects to enhance productivity and quality
- Create and update technical documentation, work instructions, and maintenance records
- Collect and analyse production data to support root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Work closely with engineers to trial and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies
- Participate in design for manufacturing (DfM) reviews and provide feedback to design teams
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
- Attend college/training provider sessions and complete coursework and assessments

- Analyse engineering and manufacturing data and information to support technical outputs. For example, read and interpret text, data, engineering drawings, work instructions, method statements, operation manuals.

- Organise, plan and prioritise workflow and scheduling of work with stakeholders.

Your training plan
This is a Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support apprenticeship, delivered over a 36 month period.
The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Telford, TF3 3AJ, 2 and a half days per week for the first 14 months.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
