Summary

This is an exciting environment in which to work within a popular Federation with children aged between 2 to 11 years old, with pupils from a range of cultural backgrounds: there are 49 languages spoken by their pupils and families. Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

* Use of your British Sign Language qualifications to communicate with deaf children and staff

* Use effective learning strategies to support all pupils to participate in learning activities

* Contribute to the planning and evaluation of teaching and learning activities

* Support pupils by having an awareness of individual needs and learning targets

* Contribute to the implementation of an effective behaviour management strategy, applying it fairly and consistently

* Provide literacy and numeracy support to individuals and groups

* Hold responsibility for a specialist area within school for which you will lead

* Support taxi pick up, parents/ carers pick up and liaise with them about appointments, behaviour, homework etc.

* Complete Listening checks using the Ling Sounds on each child

* Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training

Your training plan

Working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 Qualification, you'll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month - NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about modules including review & delivery, communication, pastoral, relationships & role modelling, learning & support, and more! You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from you

About this company

Mellers Primary School provide additional support to children with deafness and/ or language delay and therefore are unable to access mainstream education. They use British Sign Language and Signed Supported English to ensure their children can access their learning.
