Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out basic repairs and maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, and pipes
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks
  • Complete checklists and maintenance records
  • Learn and assist with more complex mechanical tasks
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Use hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, drills, grinders) and test equipment
  • Understand engineering science and technology principles
  • Prioritise safety and identify workplace hazards
  • Use basic computer software (Word, Excel)
  • Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings

You will receive a dedicated mentor for the 3-year duration of your apprenticeship, plus the support of the wider Engineering and Manufacturing Teams. As well as receiving education at Cambridge Regional College with an assigned assessor.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or C)
  • Maths (grade 4 or C)
