What you'll do at work
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Financial Controller within a friendly team of seven, the Apprentice Finance Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day processing of financial transactions for Duchy of Cornwall’s rural estate including processing supplier invoices, tenant rental receipts and suppler invoices, sales ledger invoices and Bank reconciliations.
Responsibilities - Key deliverables and ongoing responsibilities:
- Processing supplier invoices for the Duchy’s rural estate, including importing invoices to our invoice scanning software, coding, checking calculations, reviewing VAT reclaims and reconciling to supplier statements.
- Maintaining accurate records of spend on capital projects to ensure sufficient funds to process costs.
- Assist with processing tenancy amendments in our property management system.
- Processing tenant receipts - ensuring they are accurately allocated to the correct account.
- Producing monthly bank reconciliations and other month-end reconciliations.
- Collaborate with other finance team members to provide support and cover where required.
- Ad-hoc office support tasks and project work.
What you’ll bring:

- Strong communication skills, especially when dealing with colleagues in other departments.
- A proactive attitude toward process improvement and collaboration.
- Computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Excellent maths skills, allowing you to perform financial calculations such as rent refunds.

- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
The apprentice will need to attend Bath College City Centre Campus, one day per week, term time only for face-to-face teaching.

GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C or above)
- Maths (grade 4/C or above)
