To undertake a level 3 apprenticeship while working as part of our maintenance team to become competent Engineer. Maintaining the safety, integrity and effective operation of plant and equipment.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The apprentice will learn to work to strict safety and quality requirements, help to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.
To gain a full working knowledge in all aspects of maintenance, including learning to diagnose faults leading to repair as well as maintaining facilities process equipment. To assist and support with planned and reactive maintenance, as well as consult with internal stakeholders and subcontractors.
Key Objectives
- Work in a safe and responsible manner. (For own and other people’s safety).
- Comply with statutory, quality and organisational and health and safety regulations whilst carrying out manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within a high value manufacturing environment.
- Work on a broad range of activities including installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going planned maintenance of complex equipment.
- Use and interpret a range of engineering data sources and supporting documentation.
- Use lean techniques to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Where appropriate, support installation, testing and commissioning of a wide range of equipment.
- Conduct complex fault diagnosis and repair on high technology engineered systems.
- Maintain mechanical/electrical equipment.
- Maintain fluid and pneumatic power equipment.
- Minimise machinery downtime by conducting preventative planned maintenance.
- Confirm testing and subsequent smooth hand over of equipment and plant.
- Read mechanical/electrical schematics.
- Use of basic hand tools.

After this apprenticeship
At the end of the apprenticeship period, the apprentice will have gained a broad knowledge and understanding of the mechanical maintenance of forgings in various materials for the Aerospace industry and a full time permanent role may be available.
