Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Joseph Flach (JFS) and its sister company Mimea employ 22 staff. This role sits within the Mimea team of 3 existing staff and there are a further 3 JFS staff in the warehouse.

Reporting to the Mimea Warehouse Supervisor, the key duties of the role include:

  • Re-packing herbs and spices into smaller packs using scales, sealing machines 
  • Boxing up product ready for despatch
  • Picking and packing sales orders
  • Picking stock from the warehouse
  • Stock-taking

It is a regulated business with many policies and procedures to follow with strong importance on Health and Safety, cleanliness and quality control.

You will be required to wear PPE and face masks for some products.

You will undertake forklift training as part of the apprenticeship.

  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Your training plan

Supply Chain Warehouse Level 2 Apprenticeship.  

Functional Skills in math & English are required if you don't have GCSE exemptions.

This course is delivered over a 12 month period with tutor visits every month carried out in the work place.

GCSE in:

English and Math (grade A*-C / 4-9*)

Other requirements

Decent level of physical fitness, staff are standing for a lot of the day, May not be suitable for people with respiratory problems. There will also be a lot of standing, dust, smells and heavy lifting.
