Summary

Family-owned coffee shop on the marina at Burton Waters, just outside of Lincoln. We open 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday), serving breakfast, lunch and coffee. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship whilst working toward your qualification.

Wage

£11,778 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Setting up the coffee shop ready for service
  • Taking customer orders and carrying drinks and food to the correct tables
  • Learn how to use the tills and how to cash up at the end of the day
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring the safety of both guests and colleagues
  • Maintain the dining areas, ensuring tables are cleaned regularly
  • Learn to assist guests with menu selections and provide recommendations
  • Learn how to prepare food from the menu and assist in the kitchen when required

  • Use technology and equipment in line with business policy to meet customer needs.
  • Handle transactions and payments securely.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that the products and services are delivered on time and in line with business needs
  • Deal with or escalate issues that impact service and customer experience, and implement any instructions given by supervisor.
  • Use professional methods of communication that are tailored to different situations, and individual and team needs.
  • Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.
  • Maintain and rotate stock according to life cycle and business processes.
  • Ensure equipment and technology faults and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
  • Check customers are satisfied with products and services through questioning and act on feedback in line with business procedures.
  • Keep up to date with changes to products and processes.
  • Uses feedback to improve own performance.
  • Reduces the waste of resources, taking sustainability into account, in line with business expectations.

Your training plan

  • The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Food and Beverage Team Member Level 2
  • A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course
  • This is a prominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month
  • All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours
