Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Alongside your day to day working life, you will have the opportunity to study and gain your Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship. This is a varied role and will suit someone with an aptitude and willingness to help people in a bustling environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Signposting students
  • Answering the telephone
  • Emails
  • Speaking to students face to face in the student centre
  • Learning how to print ID cards
  • You will also be expected to become familiar with and understand the courses offered at Brighton Metropolitan College and be able to help students with their online applications and enrolments

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

GCSE in:

  • Maths (grade 9-4)
  • English (grade 9-4)

Other requirements

-Please note that the learning provider will be Chichester College although the vacancy location is the Brighton Met Campus Pelham Street. -This will be a remote learning with some attendance at Chichester and working in Brighton. - This is a 16-month apprenticeship including end point assessment. - Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK. - Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer. - Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study. - Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship.
