Summary

Applications are invited for an apprentice Healthcare Science Practitioner in Radiotherapy Physics at the Leeds Cancer Centre, St Jamess University Hospital. On the job training will be provided at Leeds Cancer Centre and with the educational component for the Medical Physics Technology degree provided by the University of West of England.

Work

What you'll do at work

The main responsibilities are:

To contribute to the day-to-day work of the treatment planning section

To participate in quality control programme on treatment machines.

To assist with the work of the Mould Room Department

To fulfil the role of Operator as required by the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017.

  • Practice in line with the legislation, standards of proficiency, codes of conduct and ethics that apply to healthcare science practitioners.
  • Promote non-discriminatory, equitable and inclusive practices and ensure that each person is treated with dignity and respect.

  • Identify ways of promoting own good mental health and wellbeing and that of others.

Your training plan

The job is based at St.James' hospital but the educational component is provided by the University of West of England in Bristol University of the West of England Bristol 

There are 3,  5 day blocks each year at UWE with the rest of the time at the hospital site.
