As our firm continues to expand, we are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Apprentice. If you have a strong interest in finance and a desire to learn, this could be the perfect role for you. We provide comprehensive training as you work towards your AAT qualification. You must have enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This is a great opportunity to work in a growing accounts company. You will learn and understand the whole process of bookkeeping, VAT, PAYE, payroll and accounts processing for different size companies. Word, Excel and Outlook are used extensively too.

Duties of the role after training include:

  • Analysing bank statements
  • Working in different software programs, including QuickBooks, Xero and Sage
  • Bookkeeping
  • VAT returns
  • General administration duties
  • Filing
  • Photocopying
  • Post handling
  • Telephone - dealing with general enquiries
  • Visitors - greeting visitors at Reception
  • Organising accounts paperwork into order
  • Completing Excel spreadsheets and inputting data
  • Dealing with standard correspondence/general enquiries

This list is not exhaustive, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the business which are relevant to your role within the company to meet the overall business needs.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2:

  • AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2)
  • Apprentices without Level 1 English and mathematics will need to achieve this level and have taken the test for Level 2 prior to taking their EPA

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

5 GCSE's including maths and English (grade 4)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

GCSEs must be grade 4 or above. Ensure you can travel to the workplace in Cleckheaton - BD19 4TT. The training is live online classroom learning 1 day per week. This vacancy may close early if a suitable applicant is found, so please do not delay your application.
