Shepherd Neame is excited to be recruiting for an Apprentice Hospitality Team Member to join our community led business. The Jamaica Wine House is a busy London pub tucked away in St Michaels Alley, Cornhill. A traditional London pub, with wood-panelled bar, high ceilings and a super selection of Kentish cask ales and international lagers.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
What will the apprentice be doing?
Duties will be mainly based front of house and will include:
- Provide great customer service
- The ability to go the extra mile for our customers and their needs
- Taking orders, handling payments
- Serving drinks and food to customers
- Clearing and cleaning tables
- Adhering to standards of service set out by the front of house team
- Learning how a hospitality business runs on a day-to-day basis
- Learning about Shepherd Neame products
- Take a responsible approach to the preparation, sale and service of food and beverages
- Use appropriate opportunities to upsell and promote additional products and services
- Demonstrate high personal hygiene standards and a clean workstation ethic at all times
- Pay attention to detail and have high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Be highly organised and has the ability to multitask whilst maintaining an engaging, friendly, and helpful attitude toward customers
- Anticipate customer needs and can adapt products and services to meet them
- Actively seek opportunities to make a great guest experience

- Follow food safety and allergen legislation and procedures applicable to own role.
- Use technology and equipment in line with business policy to meet customer needs.
- Handle transactions and payments securely.
- Work as part of a team to ensure that the products and services are delivered on time and in line with business needs
- Deal with or escalate issues that impact service and customer experience, and implement any instructions given by supervisor.

- Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.

Desirable qualifications

After this apprenticeship
After a successful completion of the apprenticeship, a prospect to a higher level qualification & permanent position for the right person. This may progress into a level 3 hospitality supervisor role alongside another apprenticeship course and internal career pathway.
