Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
The role will be varied and you will have an exciting opportunity to learn all aspects of the accounts assistant role. In return, we require solid commitment, a willingness to learn, and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to support a busy finance department.
Overview of the Role:
To provide support to the Finance Director, Financial Controller, and the Finance Team, providing an efficient service to Sirius A Corporation Ltd.
Day to Day Duties:
- Processing purchase invoices onto the finance software
- Ensuring complete, timely and accurate records of transactions
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Assist in managing the finance mailbox
- Obtain supplier information when required
- General administrative duties (scanning / filing)
- Dealing with telephone/email enquiries
- Cash postings and reconciliations as required
- Any other ad hoc duties as and when required

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Essential qualifications

Other requirements
The Ideal Candidate will be keen to learn and looking to progress a career in finance with a view to gaining relevant qualifications, ideally AAT to CIMA/ACCA/ACA. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Have an inquisitive outlook with a willingness to learn. Ability to take on broad spectrum of work, managing time to ensure delivery to agreed timescales. Excellent attention to detail. Microsoft Excel - desirable Pro-active approach.
