Summary

The Cyber Security Apprentice, working within Secure Managed Services, will gain hands-on experience across the Service Desk, Platforms, and Professional Services. This rotational role builds a strong foundation in IT operations, security best practices, risk and compliance, and client-focused service delivery.

Wage

£14,722.50 a year

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting day-to-day incident resolution and service requests on the Service Desk, developing troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Assisting with infrastructure and cloud platform tasks, learning how secure environments are built, maintained, and monitored
  • Working within the Professional Services team on project-based work, contributing to solution design, implementation, and documentation of secure systems
  • Within the Security Operations Centre (SOC), the apprentice will assist in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents, helping to protect client environments in real time
  • Working alongside the Risk and Assurance team, gaining insight into how secure systems are assessed, documented, and maintained to meet compliance standards and mitigate operational risks

Where you'll work

You will work at Unit 3, The Powerhouse, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 4RU. You will need to be able to travel to Gloucestershire for one week per month. If you need to relocate for this position, please note that this is an independent process and the College does not offer bursaries, aid or accommodation with this.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • Able to demonstrate a ‘security mind-set’ (how to break as well as make).

  • Workplace assessment and college block delivery (average 1 week per month)

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements
