Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • To provide administration support on Foresight's Fuel Scheme, by meeting with individuals and families, completing paperwork and gathering the necessary documents within the family hubs and the Foresight Centre
  • To maintain the various databases
  • To prepare work following instructions, using computer facilities as appropriate 
  • To work within the Foresight policies on confidentiality, health and safety, equal opportunities and racial equality at all times
  • To support with administration tasks within various departments
  • To take an active part in events organised by Foresight
  • To be responsible for the completion of all health & safety registers
  • To manage stock control of stationery
  • To collect, collate and prepare information and statistics for use
  • To perform such duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility
  • To receive and assist visitors and deal with telephone enquiries
  • To assist with monitoring and evaluation of services

What you'll learn

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Prioritise within the context of a project.

Your training plan

Data Technician Apprenticeship Standard Level 3, including Functional Skills if required.

You will learn the knowledge, skills & behaviours which will support you for your end-point assessment.

You will take part in a combination of activities, such as face-to-face classroom-based sessions, remote learning sessions, work shadowing and online learning, to support your learning and development.

You will be required to undertake training sessions with Avant Skills Academy every other week, throughout the length of the apprenticeship.

At the end of the on-programme learning, you will be required to undertake an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate you have met the occupational standard.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)
