Work

What you'll do at work
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute innovative digital media campaigns to reduce HIV/STI transmission rates and promote safer practices across underserved communities.
- Develop engaging, culturally sensitive content that prioritises sexual health awareness, combats stigma, and fosters emotional resilience among local populations.
- Champion accessibility by ensuring online platforms deliver high-quality, inclusive health information and intuitive signposting to vital services.
- Provide expert design and graphics support for staff creating printed resources, environmental media, and digital assets that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Collaborate closely with local health providers to maintain up-to-date, accurate directories of sexual health, mental health, and wellbeing services for seamless user access.
- Support the development and implementation of Leeds’ sexual health digital engagement strategy, aligning with regional health priorities and community needs.
- Ensure all digital content (websites, social media, campaigns) remains comprehensive, up-to-date, and evidence-based.
- Expand reach across priority platforms (e.g., Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Grindr) to engage underserved and most at risk populations.
- Train and empower staff/volunteers in leveraging digital tools for health promotion, including best practices for audience engagement.
- Collaborate with Leeds-based health providers to streamline service signposting and improve cross-agency referral pathways.
- Spearhead the creation of multimedia content (podcasts, vodcasts, TikTok/Instagram Reels) to drive awareness and education.
- Co-Design and maintain robust analytics systems to track engagement metrics, measure campaign success, and report outcomes.
Operational & Administrative Duties:
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including content scheduling, stakeholder communications, and report drafting.
- Complete mandatory training (e.g., safeguarding, GDPR) and pursue skill development in areas like SEO, health equity, or data analysis.
- Actively contribute to team meetings, supervision sessions, and Team focus days.

- Stay informed on local and national health policies (e.g., NHS England sexual health guidelines) to ensure compliance and relevance.
- Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to support community events, campaigns, or urgent projects.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Yorkshire MESMAC Board/CEO, in line with the role’s scope.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Develop and critically apply the concepts, principles and theories of marketing relevant to the interdisciplinary topics of digital marketing
- Apply the 4 marketing principles (product, price, place, promotion) and considerations of the business / marketing campaign.
- Write and create content for the different audiences, online channels and create clear “Call to Actions” and user journey’s
- Demonstrate how to promote and apply content marketing effectively through the appropriate media channels, relationship management systems and communication platforms to ensure brand and cultural awareness are maintained throughout marketing strategies.
- Select a variety of appropriate research methodologies, platforms and technologies to synthesise information and apply to the organisation’s digital marketing strategies, drivers and customer behaviours
- Manage, plan, specify, lead and report on digital marketing projects.
- Manage and optimise key channels and content within a digital marketing plan.
- Manage interfaces and the supply network of the organisation and customer by applying the appropriate E-commerce strategies and models available and whenever appropriate taking global engagements into account.
- Apply a marketing mix / digital marketing mix to meet customer expectations.
- Accurately observe, record and draw conclusions from all types statistical analysis of campaign performance, recognising inherent uncertainties and limitations with financial and budgetary requirements to demonstrate Return on Investment (ROI).
- Engage communities through Email Marketing and Social Media to stimulate and encourage communication through positive discussion and engagement.
- Apply the appropriate tools for a data-led approach to analyse marketing information and platforms, data and social media and recognise what is actually important for insights and optimisation to provide solutions for marketing decisions
- Contribute to business, planning and marketing strategies to recognise and respond quickly to opportunities and customer requirements whilst embracing change.
- Identify, recognise and understand internal and external business intelligence and factors that may impact future operations.
- Interpret, communicate and brief internal or external stakeholders on digital business requirements.
Your training plan
Please note that this is a work-based Degree Apprenticeship with block delivery offered by our training provider, Leeds Trinity University.
This Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship course is a 36-month programme that leads to a full degree and certification, providing exemptions for further study after completion. We are running it as "block face-to-face delivery", with workshops lasting two days at a time, accounting for around 9 days each year. This delivery is face-to-face learning.
