Summary

Royston Lead is an SME located between Barnsley hospital and town centre. Your main duties will be assisting the finance controlled, ownership of purchase ledger, using Business Central software covering reception, manning the phones, send and receive emails, typing minutes, scanning, filing, any other ad hoc duties required.

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Organise self, prioritise workload and activity to meet deadlines
  • Identify team workload problems and offers to support peers, where appropriate
  • Understand issues beyond own remit
  • Develop awareness of elements of commercial law, such as contracts, data protection or Anti Money Laundering
  • Upholding relevant codes of conduct
  • Develop an understanding of how the business is successful, through either buying/selling/supplying products/services to the market
  • Support colleagues and collaborate to achieve results
  • Build working relationships within own team and other parts of the business
  • Support accounting systems and processes to allow the business to keep track of all types of financial transactions
  • Support with a range of routine accounts reports within the finance function
  • Support with basic internal control within the business
  • Use relevant office and accounting software packages to input and manage data accurately
  • Maintain the security of accounting information using passwords and other appropriate security measures

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or above)
