Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- To support day to day functions including (Master & Material Planning, Customer Delivery Planning and systems)
- Initiation and support for projects in the Logistics Department to generate cost efficiencies and savings
- Innovate and design logistical processes that would improve the effectiveness and efficiency around the plant
- Create and improve visual management systems around the plant
- Supplier/Customer visits to resolve issues
- SAP Creation Processing
- New Product Introduction Support
- Arrange meetings and build relationships with suppliers that are related to any projects within the Logistics department
- Represent the Logistics department at meetings both internal and external as required
- Audit existing and recently implemented processes on a weekly basis
- Support the ZF Production System team with projects around the factory
- 5S Audits
- Project sustainability
- and any other reasonable requests

- Match innovation in IT with business needs including global sourcing and the international trade context
- Meet the challenge of technology selection, development, implementation and application
- Give guidance on meeting environmental and legal requirements and maintain a high regard for risk identification and reduction, and safety management
- Articulate business purpose and values and establish key accountabilities for contract formation and negotiation
- Introduce innovative distribution, delivery and return methods while managing risk
- Implement the 7 "R's" of sustainability: remove, reduce, reuse, renew, recycle, revenue and read
- Maintain the competitiveness of the supply chain
- Agree, communicate, collaborate and coordinate supply chain and network imperatives with finance, HR, IT, sales and marketing functions and with key partners
- Initiate value-adding strategic and operational processes through effective project and task management
Your training plan
Your Degree Apprenticeship training will be conducted by Aston University. You will study through a combination of on-campus study days, online webinars through virtual learning environment, Blackboard and through assignments tailored to your role at work.
You will need to be able to travel to the University on the study days and into the company by your own means.
