Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Safe operation of CNC milling machines & lathes
  • Setting up of tooling, & managing tool wear in operation
  • Setting up machines, CNC milling & lathes.
  • Monitoring of machine once in operation
  • Ability to read & edit CNC programmes
  • Understanding & reading technical drawings & specifications
  • Use of a wide range of technical measuring equipment used in the control of quality

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C or above)

  • Maths (grade 4/C or above)
