Architectural Technologist Apprenticeship with day release for required academic studies (Level 6). To assist in the production of technical house-type drawings, design and technical specifications. Assisting with other information required to obtain planning, building, and warranty approvals and to enable the commencement of development on site.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
01. Operates within the procedures applicable to the role, supervised and trained by Architectural Technologists (AT) and regularly updates Senior/AT on progress.
02. Engage with academic studies, meeting course requirements and applying knowledge in a workplace setting.
03. Understands basic AutoCAD operations and the company drawing standards to assist in producing computer-generated house-type drawings, floor plans, elevations and details, as directed by the AT’s.
04. Understands and assists AT with the structural, fire risk, energy and ventilation requirements as set out in the Building Regulations and the Master Specification.
05. Produces schedules of design information.
06. Assists with the review and integration of manufacturers' details. Liaises with and assists AT’s in obtaining, checking, amending and scheduling manufacturers' details.
07. Assist in the preparation of forms and collate information for necessary applications.
08. Accompanies Senior/AT’s on site visits to monitor general progress, assist in resolving queries or technical constraints.
09. Generally, assists Engineers and AT’s with any and all tasks associated with the Main Purpose above, by arrangement with the Technical Director.

- S1 Client and User Requirements: Be able to identify and assess client and user requirements and conduct feasibility studies so that the design reflects client needs.
- S2 Sustainability: Be able to identify, assess and manage sustainable solutions to client requirements and minimise environmental impact of project over building lifecycle.
- S3 Health and Safety: Be able to identify, assess and manage hazards and risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- S4 Project Management: Be able to select, form and manage the project team and agree responsibilities and processes.
- S5 Regulations: Be able to assess, advise and meet statutory regulations and legal constraints.
- S6 Design Development: Be able to prepare, present and agree proposals for project briefs, make recommendations, develop programmes and develop detailed designs for construction.
- S7 Specifications and Information Management: Be able to identify and prepare detailed designs and manage the project model (BIM), including integrating, evaluating and recommending changes.
- S8 Tenders and Contracts: Be able to select and evaluate tenders, choose and agree appropriate specialist contractors and control contractual compliance during construction.
- S9 Value Management: Be able to work with the project team to enhance value and/or reduce costs while meeting the project brief.
- S10 Risk Management: Be able to identify, assess and manage threats and hazards while optimising project opportunities.
- S11 Project Handover: Be able to manage project handover and completion and assemble operations and Maintenance Manuals for the building's end users.
Your training plan
Four days of the week, apprentice will be based at Croudace House, Tupwood Lane, Caterham CR3 6XQ
One day a week, apprentice will be at London South Bank University, 103 Borough Road, London, SE1 0AA
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equival (grade A-C or Grade 4 or above)Other in:
- HNC in related subject with merit grade (grade Merit)
- Level 4 Apprenticeship (grade Pass)
