Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have a good level of understanding in general construction.
  • Responsible for being the point of contact between workers.
  • Coordinating tasks for the day including but not limited to creating schedules for workers.
  • Activities on site are in line with health and safety procedures including conducting Toolbox talk.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.


Key Skills Required:

  • Have exceptional written and spoken English.
  • IT literate and can learn to use the latest cloud software products for health safety and construction management.
  • Be highly self-motivated.
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and a right first-time attitude.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade A*-C / 9-4)
