Summary

We have an exciting opportunitity for an Accounts Assistant Apprentice to be part of the production team at Gemini Rail Services. The role will be employed on a full-time basis. The position will include attendance at a technical college to complete modules to support the apprenticeship program.

What you'll do at work

We have exciting opportunities for Accounts Assistant Apprentice to be part of the production team at Gemini Rail Services.

The role will be employed on a full-time basis. The position will include attendance at a technical college to complete modules to support the apprenticeship program.

Key Activities / Elements

  • Working with multiple numbers of payrolls across the business stream
  • Invoice processing
  • Work with the credit control/payroll clerk
  • Maintaining spreadsheets for the Head Office department
  • Maintaining the company's purchase and sales ledgers
  • Raising sales invoices
  • Manage & pay supplier invoices
  • Liaising with third-party providers, clients and suppliers
  • Updating and maintaining procedural documentation
  • Maintaining all account operations according to company policies and procedures
  • Liaise with Head Office & Branch staff as required to fulfil duties
  • Support Head Office & Business Streams with other tasks to ensure high-quality service delivery as required
  • Holiday cover and ad hoc requests in line with job description as required

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Other requirements

You will support approximately 250 employees across the site. This will include inside the working areas. You will attend a site induction, which covers all health and safety aspects of working inside a rail depot. This includes moving vehicles, both road and rail, moving parts and people. You will be expected to wear Personal Protective Equipment, which includes safety boots, hi vis vests/ jackets, a bump cap and safety glasses when walking around the depot. Gemini Rail Services operates a strict drug & alcohol policy, and all candidates will be subject to a safety-critical medical and screening. Random drug & alcohol testing is carried out at the site.
