Summary

Cornerways Medical Centre are looking to recruit an Apprentice Patient Services Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a desire to have a career in the Healthcare industry. You will learn to administer the clinical appointments system on behalf of the doctors and nurses and act as the first point of contact for patients.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key Duties:

  • To maintain patient records as directed by the Patient Services Manager and defined by standard protocols.
  • To deal with telephone enquiries and direct callers appropriately.
  • To liaise with the Patient Services Manager and Patient Services colleagues on matters of administration to ensure the efficient and timely operation of the surgery.
  • To work closely with the Patient Services Manager to ensure the efficient operation of the Patient Services Office in the handling of all matters concerning patient appointments and records administration.
  • To accurately record and confirm patient appointments within the electronic appointment system.
  • To ensure that appropriate information is prepared for doctors who undertake home visits.
  • To liaise with other agencies on behalf of the doctors as and when directed, for example, arranging patient transport.

  • Comply with all aviation regulations, work within legislative guidelines and procedures.
  • Complete and maintain documentation to meet current legislative aviation guidelines
  • Use aviation systems effectively.
  • Adapt to different circumstances whilst maintaining customer service standards and remaining polite, helpful and customer focused
  • Adhere to procedures for identification and safe handling of dangerous goods
  • Work effectively as part of a team and with others identifying and responding to the needs of individuals, including colleagues, other organisations/stakeholders or customers
  • Communicate effectively transmitting and receiving information and recording it as required
  • Take appropriate action in the event of an incident, disruption or emergency, liaising with relevant people and recording actions and outcomes as required
  • Interpret and scrutinise travel documentation
  • Identify passenger anomalies and report to the line manager in accordance with relevant regulations
  • Correctly check-in all booked passengers and baggage
  • Carry out the boarding functions, ensuring accurate head counts and security and pre-boarding briefs and passenger handling duties
  • Communicate with flight crew regarding customer and other requirements for example; passengers with restricted movements
  • Deal with the required documents and health related items and the processing channels for these
  • Identify and use the correct handling method by using IATA PRM codes or via another applicable means of communication
  • Take remedial action upon identification of faults or errors in a timely manner.

Your training plan

Customer Service Practitioner Level 2. This apprenticeship is delivered through work based learning, this means that all training is done at the workplace eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated a tutor who will provide a mixture of interactive online group teaching and 1-1 training monthly.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 3/D)
  • Maths (grade 3/D)

Working 4 days per week -Tuesdays off. Working Hours: Mon 8 am – 1 pm 2 pm – 6.30 pm, Weds 8 am – 1 pm 2 pm – 6pm, Thurs 8 am – 1 pm, Fri 8 am – 1 pm 2 pm – 6.30 pm.

About this company

Cornerways Medical Centre comprises of two surgeries, the main surgery situated at Gorley Road, Ringwood, and the Branch Surgery situated at 1 Pine Drive, St. Leonard’s (approximately three miles away). The post holder may be based at either site.The Practice has between in excess of 11,000 registered patients and with any Practice of this size we expect a number of those patients to have some form of disability.

After this apprenticeship

Full training will be given in this challenging and varied role to ensure that the apprentice has the skills and expertise to become a permanent member of the team.
