Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Understanding roofing safety rules, working at height, manual handling, and correct PPE use
  • Carrying tiles, slates, felt, battens, ladders, and tools to and from vans and work areas
  • Handing up tiles/slates, cutting them under supervision, and gradually learning how to lay them in proper rows
  • Preparing the right mixes used for bedding tiles, fixing ridges, or pointing
