We are seeking an enthusiastic Level 4 Quantity Surveyor apprenticeship to join our team, supporting the Quantity Surveying team through various stages of a project.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Developing a strong understanding of Quantity Surveying principles, practices, and procedures through on-the-job learning and training
Supporting the preparation and submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, including accurate data entry and analysis as required
Assisting with basic quantity take-offs and measurement tasks to support cost planning and estimating
Assisting with accurate costing for various aspects of the project
Reviewing drawings and assisting with the issuing of drawings and records to the Subcontractors
Contributing to identifying cost savings and assist with cost control during a project
Assisting with preparation of tenders and support with the procurement of sub-contractors
Assisting with Subcontract orders, payments and variations
Supporting the evaluation and agreement of variations and instructions for smaller trade packages

What you'll learn

Course contents

Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Your training plan

Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Level 4 (Higher national certificate) Apprenticeship Standard:

We would want the learner to be one day learning at college
QS would be working 4 days at the Head Office with the one of these on site
Site supervisor would be on site with location TBC

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths & English (grade Grades 5-9 (A*- C))

Other requirements

Outdoor works and heavy lifting. Work sites are in London – local transport would be best. On the rare occasion site supervisor might have weekend/evening works.
